Licensed Student Sponsor
You need an unconditional offer from a UK education provider that holds a Student sponsor licence.
Prepare your UK Student Visa application with a clear understanding of your CAS, financial evidence, English requirement, TB certificate, supporting documents and application process before you submit.
Know your financial requirement
Tuition balance and living funds are assessed separately.
Yes. Pakistani students can apply for the UK Student route if they meet the applicable immigration requirements. The starting point is an eligible course with a licensed UK Student sponsor, followed by a valid Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).
Your application must also address the financial requirement, English-language requirement and any additional evidence that applies to you, such as a TB certificate, ATAS certificate or parental consent.
A strong application is not about adding unnecessary documents. It is about submitting the correct evidence, in the correct format, with information that is consistent across your CAS, application form and supporting documents.
The exact evidence varies by applicant, but these are the main areas that normally determine whether a Student application can meet the route.
You need an unconditional offer from a UK education provider that holds a Student sponsor licence.
Your education provider must issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies before you submit the visa application.
You must meet the applicable tuition-fee and living-cost requirements unless an official exemption applies.
You must meet the English-language level required for your course and Student route circumstances.
A current passport or other accepted travel document is required for the application.
Your course, academic background, finances and application information should be consistent and credible.
A CAS is the reference issued by your licensed UK education provider after it confirms your place on an eligible course. You cannot submit a Student visa application without a valid CAS reference.
Before applying, check that your name, passport details, course title, course dates, tuition fees and any payments recorded by the sponsor are correct. Differences between your CAS and application can create unnecessary questions or delays.
The Student rules require the visa application to be made within the permitted CAS timeframe, so do not obtain your CAS and then leave the visa application indefinitely.
There is no single fixed bank-balance amount for every Pakistani student. Your calculation depends on your outstanding course fees, where you will study and the length of your course used for the maintenance calculation.
For most Student applicants studying in London, the maintenance requirement is calculated at £1,529 for each month of the course, up to a maximum of 9 months.
Maximum 9-month maintenance calculation: £13,761, before adding any outstanding course fees shown on your CAS.
For most Student applicants studying outside London, the maintenance requirement is calculated at £1,171 for each month of the course, up to a maximum of 9 months.
Maximum 9-month maintenance calculation: £10,539, before adding any outstanding course fees shown on your CAS.
Where you are required to show cash funds, the required amount normally needs to be held for at least 28 consecutive days.
The most recent financial evidence must generally be dated no more than 31 days before the date of application.
Do not convert the UK requirement into one permanent PKR figure. Exchange rates move, and UKVI converts foreign-currency funds under its applicable rules.
Not every applicant submits exactly the same evidence. Your document set should reflect your course, funding method, age, nationality and any additional requirements that apply to your case.
A current passport or other valid travel document.
The Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies reference issued by your UK education provider.
Bank evidence, qualifying student loan or official financial sponsorship where required.
Evidence accepted for your route where your sponsor cannot confirm the requirement another permitted way.
A valid tuberculosis certificate from an approved clinic when the UK TB rules apply to you.
Required for certain postgraduate study or research in sensitive subject areas.
Applicants aged 16 or 17 may need parental or legal-guardian consent and relationship evidence.
Written consent may be required if an official financial sponsor paid qualifying costs recently.
The Student route normally requires English at B2 for degree-level study or above and B1 for eligible study below degree level or a pre-sessional course.
The way you prove English can vary. In some circumstances the Student sponsor can assess English; in others an approved Secure English Language Test or other permitted evidence may be required.
Pakistani applicants who fall within the UK TB-testing requirement must provide a valid certificate from a Home Office-approved clinic.
The UK currently lists approved TB testing locations in Pakistan. Do not use a non-approved clinic for a certificate intended for a UK visa application.
Some postgraduate courses and research in sensitive subject areas require an Academic Technology Approval Scheme certificate before the Student visa application.
Check your CAS and course information early because an ATAS requirement can affect when you are ready to submit.
Prepare each part in the right order so that your course information, finances and supporting evidence are ready before submission.
Choose an eligible course with a licensed Student sponsor and satisfy the institution’s admission conditions.
Check the CAS details carefully, including your personal information, course details and tuition payments recorded by the sponsor.
Calculate the required tuition balance and maintenance funds, then make sure your evidence meets the applicable holding-period rules.
Organise your passport, CAS, financial evidence, English evidence, TB certificate, ATAS and any other documents relevant to your circumstances.
Complete the UK Student visa form carefully, pay the applicable visa fee and healthcare surcharge, and provide the required identity evidence.
Follow the instructions provided for biometrics or digital identity verification and provide additional evidence if UKVI requests it.
£558
The official Student visa page currently lists this fee for an application made from outside the UK. Verify the amount before payment because immigration fees can change.
£776 / year
The student concessionary Immigration Health Surcharge rate is currently £776 per year. The actual amount depends on the length of immigration permission granted.
About 3 weeks
UKVI currently gives a 3-week service standard for Student applications made outside the UK. Additional checks can make an individual application take longer.
Work permission depends on the course, sponsor and conditions attached to your immigration permission. Many students on a full-time degree-level course with a qualifying higher education provider can work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during permitted vacations.
Other courses can have lower limits or no work permission. Student immigration conditions also restrict certain activities, including self-employment and some specific occupations.
Student dependants are not available for every university course. Current rules limit new dependant applications mainly to qualifying government-sponsored students and students on certain PhD, doctoral or research-based higher degree courses.
If dependants are permitted, separate applications, fees and financial requirements apply to each eligible family member.
A refusal is not caused by one universal checklist mistake. The risk depends on the rule that has not been met and the evidence submitted. These are practical areas worth checking carefully.
The available balance does not cover the applicable maintenance amount and outstanding tuition fees.
Bank evidence does not satisfy the required holding period or is too old on the application date.
Course, fee, payment, passport or personal details do not match across the application evidence.
A required TB certificate is missing, expired or issued by a clinic that is not accepted for UK visa purposes.
The application does not show the required English level through an accepted method.
A required ATAS certificate, sponsor consent, parental evidence or other document relevant to the applicant is missing.
